Bichunmoo was the most expenive Korean move ever made - until the next one came out the following year, Musa the Warrior..

Controversy surrounded the movie's Korean release when, just like Spider-Man, fans of the comicbook comlained about the changes from the source material.

In summer 2000, Bichunmoo outperformed every film at the Korean box office except for Mission: Impossible 2 and Gladiator. It was especially popular with teenagers.

Due to the determination of theatres to have six screenings a day, Bichunmoo had to be edited to fit the two hour maximum timeslot. Four short were deleted, and are believed to be destroyed.
